It has been almost two years since we started our journey to adoption from Taiwan. Very soon we will be coming to the end of that journey as we are expecting our referral within the next few months. For those of you who aren't aware of the process, the timeline of what we have done so far follows. Please visit later for updates and more information.
March 18, 2007: Submitted application to Journeys of the Heart (JoH)
April 5, 2007: Acceptance by JoH in Taiwan Program II, St. Lucy's Center in Tainan
June 28, 2007: Application filed with USCIS for adoption of foreign born child
August, 2007: Completion and submission of all paperwork to JoH
Paperwork included homestudy, medical examinations, financial statements
August 20, 2007: Officially on waiting list for referral from St. Lucy's
September 13, 2007: Receipt of I-171H from USCIC, eligible to adopt foreign born child
July 2008: Submission of homestudy update
August 20, 2008: One year on waiting list
November 2008: Submission of request to USCIS to extend I-171H
December 2008: 16 months on waiting list
April 7, 2009: Received referral of 3 month old girl after 19 1/2 months on the waiting list
May 18, 2009: Dossier sent to Taiwan
